Title:

World Geodetic System 1984 - WGS 84

Country:

North Macedonia (nmk)

Abstract:

The World Geodetic System WGS 84 is a global geocentric terrestrial reference system. WGS 84 is the basic system in which GPS measurements are processed and represents a modern geodetic standard that is distinguished by the highest quality in terms of approximating the Earth's body.

QUALITY AND CONFORMANCE

Data quality and standards conformance

Lineage / Provenance:

The World Geodetic System - WGS84 is a system that includes an Earth model defined by five primary parameters: the semi-major axis of the ellipsoid (a), the first oblateness of the meridian ellipse, the geocentric gravitational constant - the mass of the Earth including the atmosphere (GM), the angular velocity of the Earth's rotation, and the normal second-order zonal harmonic coefficient of the gravitational potential.
