The Spatial Plan of the Zenica-Doboj Canton is the first mandatory planning document for the territory of the Canton, which regulates spatial relations and provides guidelines for its use and preservation, taking into account the basic principles of human sustainable development. The aforementioned document is a plan for a wider area, which sets out guidelines for the preparation and adoption of planning documents for narrower areas in the territory of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The spatial plan consists of a textual and graphic part. The graphic part contains 29 graphic annexes (Canton) in the scale of 1:50000 and 12 graphic annexes (municipalities) in the scale of 1:25000.
U izradi Prostornog plana Zeničko-dobojskog kantona su učestvovale sve općine Zeničko-dobojskog kantona, dostavljajući svoje postojeće prostorne podatke i informacije u raznim oblicima. Kantonalni zavod za urbanizam je kao Nosilac izrade napravio bazu podataka postojećeg stanja, a nakon analize svih preuzetih podataka i izraženih planskih potreba na predmetnom prostoru, izradio je i bazu podataka za kraj planskog perioda.
